Forests. Olive-green above. Chestnut cap; eyebrows and breast yellow; belly white.

Marshes. Breeding male all-black with yellow mantle and shoulder-patches.

Forests. Black above with yellow wing edges and rump; whitish below with yellow belly.

Wooded regions. Below yellow; eyebrows and cheeks yellow; crown to nape grey; rest greenish with yellow-edged wing feathers.

Wetlands. Breeding male has yellow crown, nape and back; below black; bill black; legs pink.

Dams & wetlands. Yellow bill with black saddle. Above dark brown, all feathers edged white; head and underparts white, all feathers with dark brown centres, densely so on head and neck.

Riverine forests. Below (including underwings) yellow; head grey; rest olive-brown.

Dry bush. Eyebrows, cheeks and underparts yellow; upperparts olive-green,paler in W, darkest in SE.

Thornveld and cultivations. Breeding male all-black with yellow and white shoulder-patch; bill pale grey.
