Description

Fairly common resident. Olive-green upper parts and bright-yellow underparts (including underwings), plus reddish eyes with conspicuous white eyelids. Immature similar, but crown the same colour as back. Noisy at times, the call a loud, nasal ‘pur, pur, pur, pur, peh, peh, peh, peh, peh…’, often several birds at once. Occurs singly or in pairs in well developed riverine forest, coastal and lowland forests, and thickets on moist, rocky hillsides. Spends much time foraging on the ground or in the mid stratum.
