Wetlands. Above dark brown with white feather edges; below buffy-brown.

Woodland. Grey-brown above; streaky crown; white eyebrow; stout blackish bill; white below.

Woodland thickets. Dark brown above; white below and well barred blackish.

Inland waters. Pink bill and variable amount of white.
