Streaky headed Seedeater Newman's Birds

Description

Common resident. Identified by bold white eyebrows and streaked crown. Told from [Black-eared Seedeater] by lack of a distinct mask or any breast streaking; cf. Yellow-throated Bush-Sparrow ( Petronia), which has similar bold eyebrows. Has a pleasant song, rendered in short bursts ‘wit-chee-chee-chee-cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, chip’, rising to a crescendo. When nest-building, utters a repetitive ‘tweu, tweu, tirrirrit-tirik’. Occurs singly, in pairs or in small parties in woodland, fallow farmlands and suburbia. Inconspicuous and seldom numerous.
