Kalahari and Arid west. Face and throat yellow; crown, hindneck, upperparts and breast pale yellow heavily dappled blackish; belly dusky; vent rufous.

Wooded regions. Below yellow; eyebrows and cheeks yellow; crown to nape grey; rest greenish with yellow-edged wing feathers.

Woodland. Yellow forehead (front) on black and yellow upperparts.

Bushveld. Below white with yellow breast; lower breast may have a small black breast-bar, often absent.

Game regions. Upperparts and entire head dark brown; underparts and rump yellow-buff; bill yellow with red tip, eyes yellow.

Wide ranging. Entirely dark brown with forked tail and yellow soft parts.

Mixed bushveld or scrub. Grey-brown upperparts; pale grey breast; yellow belly; soft parts black.

Woodland. Above turquoise-blue; wing coverts black; below white; bill red and black.

Diverse bushy habitats; summer visitor. Upperparts olive-green with darker tail and flight feathers; pale yellow underparts. Distinctive yellowish eyebrow and notch in tail.
