Short grasslands. Mainly chestnut colouring; grey nape; white belly and legs.

Grass and scrub. Only head and breast black; underparts white; dull brown above.

Grasslands, vleis. All blue-grey except white crown, black wing-feathers. Bill yellowish.


Grassveld. Grey head (white forehead), neck and upper breast; above brown, below white.

Grasslands. Grey body with black cap, hindneck and flight feathers. Bill and legs grey.

Grasslands. Tawny above and on neck with black markings; male has black-and-white head marking plus black belly; female white below; legs pale yellow.

Farmlands & grasslands. Cere, eyes and legs yellow. Underwing shows white when hovering.

Short grasslands. Entirely dark brown or blackish-brown; only primary feathers show paler in flight.
