Blue Korhaan

Description

Common endemic resident. The only korhaan with entirely blue-grey neck and underparts. Male calls mostly early morning ‘kakow, kakow, kakow…’, and several birds may call in unison. Flight call is a deep-throated ‘knock-me-down…’. Pairs and small groups frequent highveld grassland and irrigated lands. Shy; crouches down and seemingly vanishes, even in very short vegetation.
