Colour: Grey

Bushveld. Dull olive-green above; white below; tail usually raised.

Estuaries, lagoons. Adult all white; yellowish bill; pink legs. Black flight feathers.

Inland waters. Upperwings, back, tail, lower neck and bill grey; rest rufous.

Woodland. Above and breast grey; bold white rump; eyes deep red, cere and legs red.

Karoo. Grey cap and upper body; black tail; mask and black wings with white bar; pink central breast.

Woodland. Dark grey above; rump white barred grey; primaries and tail black; dark grey breast and finely barred underparts; coral-pink cere and legs.

A common summer costal Tern found in non-breeding plumage. Grey above, white below. Antarctic Tern is larger than with dark red bill. .

Acacia woodland. Grey-brown above; yellow-buff below; brown throat-bar not always present; pale eyes with brown eye-rings.

Suburbia. Grey crown and mantle; rest green above, yellow below; bold black breast-band.
