Habitat: Rocky Areas

Rocky ground and farmyards. Dark brown above, slightly paler below, rump rich chestnut-brown, tail same with black tip and central feathers.

Rocky grasslands. Rump and upper-tail coverts orange; below orange lower breast; paler towards belly.

Rocky koppies. Black-and-white streaked head (blackest in male); rest cinnamon-brown.

Upper tail black; rest of upperparts dark brown, except for cinnamon forehead; breast, flanks and rump cinnamon; throat pale with dark barring.

Rocky slopes and cliffs. Both sexes have rufous underparts, rump and tail; male with rufous mantle, grey head and neck; female speckled brown above.

Rocky hillsides. Male has black-and-white upperparts and throat; rufous breast and rump. Female rufous below with streaked breast; speckled above.

Rocky grassland. Male has striking black and pale buff plumage; lively, demonstrative behaviour.

Rocky regions. Zimbabwe and Botswana. White spots on upper wing and tail tip.

Montane cliffs. Black mask and beard on white face; rest of body ginger-brown; wings and tail dark brown; eyes pale yellow and red; feet whitish.
