Description

Common endemic resident. Identified by striking plumage patterns and lively, demonstrative behaviour. Has a loud and pleasant song with snatches of mimicry, song phrases usually starting with two rapid clicking notes: ‘chit, chit, leleoo-chit, cherr-wee-oo, too-weelie, tooweeoo…’. Pairs inhabit rocky or stony hills and montane regions in sour grassland. Tame, flitting from rock to rock with much flicking of tail and wings.
