Description

Common resident. Distinguished by cinnamon colouring of body with black, white-streaked head. Immature resembles female. The short, distinctive song is repeated at frequent intervals, ‘tee-trrr, chirri-chee’ or ‘swiddle-swiddle-saaa’. In pairs, occasionally flocks, on rocky or stony ground with or without bushes, often on soil-eroded ground or in broad-leaved woodland and mixed bushveld.
