Well wooded and suburban areas. Perches and calls in same tree for long periods. Diagnostic call ‘I’m so SICK’.

Farmlands & grasslands. Cere, eyes and legs yellow. Underwing shows white when hovering.

Inland waters. Differs from Slaty Egret in yellow feet only. Mantles its wings when feeding.

Inland waters. Small size, yellow bill and red legs. Walks on floating vegetation.
