Riverine and coastal thickets. Female all black breast, male has narrow black breast band on white under feathers. Red eye-wattle.

Forests. Chin to underbelly rich orange; vent yellow; above olive-green; cap grey.

Woodland. The northern race is yellow below the black breast-band; throat white; above greyish; eyes whitish.

Forests. Dark brown above including surround of facial disc; finely barred brown on whitish underparts; no ‘ear’ tufts.

Forests and plantations. Dark, purple-brown with grey head and purple-grey neck; eye-rings, bill and legs bright yellow.
