Colour: White

Wetlands. All white; bill yellow; upper legs dull yellow; lower legs black.

Grassveld, bushveld. Black and white with red bill and legs. Seen in large flocks or small groups in summer.

Pastures and mixed grasslands. All white except in summer when buff on head, neck and back. Bill, legs yellow to pink.

Open bushveld. Male & female whitish when non-breeding; Male has head ornamented with black and yellow when breeding; tail black.

Woodland. White bird with black wings and tail; orange eyes.

Wetlands. All white; black bill and legs;feet yellow.

Salt pans. Pink bird with red wing feathers, bill and legs. Birds can be quite white.

Coastal. Grey upperwings and back only; body white; bill and legs red.

Inland and coastal. Grey head, back and upperwings; bill and legs red.

Salt pans and soda lakes. White with pink and black bill; long pink legs; red and black wings.
