Habitat: Aerial

Lowveld. Cap, ear coverts and rump rich orange; below white, well streaked black.

River banks and grassy slopes. Above metallic blue, except greyish cap and rump. Forked tail.

Grassland. Top of head orange; rump pale orange; rest of upperparts metallic blue; below whitish, lightly streaked.

Aerial. Above metallic blue with white rump; below white. Tail with shallow fork.

Inland rivers. Small martin; belly white; rest dark brown (a few birds all brown).

Lowlands and escarpment. Slow, low flight.

Aerial. Above metallic blue; forehead and chin orange; throat black; below white. Forked tail.

Inland waters. Large martin; above dark brown; below white with wide brown chest-band; small white eyebrow, square tail.

Mountains. Large swift with dark brown breast band with white chin and belly

Vicinity of palm trees, common in towns. Small, slender-winged brown swift with deeply forked tail.
