Regional Status: Rare Endemic

Protea woodland. Larger canary; mainly drab grey with distinct lighter bars on closed wing; heavy grey bill.

Rocky hillsides. Male has black-and-white upperparts and throat; rufous breast and rump. Female rufous below with streaked breast; speckled above.

Forests. Green body and wings; yellow-brown (or grey) head and neck; orange-red forehead and shoulders.

Upland scrub on forest fringes. Told by black cap, red bill and legs; wings and tail dark brown; breast grey; belly white.
