Description

Fairly common, localised endemic resident. A large, drab canary with a pale bill and two distinct light wing-bars on the folded wing; cf. [Streaky-headed Seedeater]. Distinctive call is ‘tree-lee-loo’, the song soft, sweet and varied; an excellent mimic. Small, scattered parties occur in protea bush on southern mountains, occasionally in wooded kloofs and forest fringes. Shy and retiring, the flight swift and direct.
