Colour: Rufous

Woodland. Above speckled brown and black; below rufous throat and upper breast on creamy-white.

Kalahari thornveld. Well-barred falcon with rufous cap and nape.

Grasslands. Head and underparts (including underwing coverts) rufous; upperwings grey. Cere and legs red.

Marshlands. Small, secretive. Head, nape and upper breast chestnut.

Dune forests, bushveld. Black head and breast; rufous upperparts; white bill and underparts.

Bushveld. Grey head, nape and rump; black mask; rufous mantle and back; white underparts.

Woodland. Large roller with rufous underparts streaked white.

Short grasslands. SE race has rich rufous plumage; pink bill and legs.

Bushveld with large flowing rivers. Cinnamon underparts with Rufous upperparts. Black eyes.

Rocks with bushes. Entirely grey-black above; dark rufous below.
