
Urban. Many individuals of this variable pigeon have glossy-green neck feathers.

Highveld and scrubland. Dark grey-brown except for orange underbelly, orange-yellow legs and bill.

Commensal with humans. Introduced. Has grey mantle and breast but looks all black.

Human settlements. Crown grey; nape dark brown grading into chestnut back and wings; small white wing-bar; lores to bib black.

Wetlands and gardens. The head and neck are dull grey-brown; rest greenish-black with iridescent shoulder.

Suburbia. Its green-black plumage shows a purple sheen about the upper breast and mantle.

Towns. Head, mantle and breast black; black and white wings, rest brown; darker above; vent white.

Farmlands and suburbia. Crown, face and upper breast black in male, grey in female; mantle grey; back, rump and wings chestnut with small white wing-bar.
