Description

Common resident. Like a small version of [Chinspot Batis], and sometimes regarded as a race of that species, but in both sexes the markings of the underparts are less clearly defined with narrower breast-bands. Male generally more speckled on the back and flanks. The call is a long, monotonous series of notes ‘tiroo, tiroo, tiroo, whit, whit, whit, phep, phep…’. Habits like [Chinspot Batis], but occurs only in Mozambique from Inhambane northwards, and in extreme eastern Zimbabwe.
