Inland water shorelines. Small plover told by white underparts with two black breast-bands; above dark brown; bill and eye-rings red.

Wetlands. Light brown above with white and black bands around head and throat; belly white; breast buff.
Common Ringed Plover
Wetlands. Light brown above; white below and on forehead; male has black mask and bold black band encircling breast and mantle; bill and legs orange-yellow.
Chestnut-banded Plover
Pans and gravel pits. Light brown above; white forehead, face and underparts, with narrow chestnut or buffy throat-band.
Caspian Plover
Dry plains. Above light brown; sides of head and below white with dusky breast-band (non-breeding) or broad chestnut breast-band (breeding).
African Snipe
Marshes. Very long, straight black bill. Head, breast and upperparts buff; heavily streaked and spotted dark brown, lower breast to belly white; flanks barred dark brown.
