Description

Uncommon summer visitor. A dumpy, short-billed plover; yellow orange legs and a single bold black breast-band extending around neck diagnostic. In flight it differs from [Three-banded Plover] in distinct white wing-bar. The call is ‘coo-eep’ or ‘too-li’. Occurs singly or in small parties, often with [Three-banded Plover], on shorelines of coastal lagoons, estuaries and inland waters.
