Desert plains. Light brown upperparts; white below; pale grey head and neck with black-and-white markings.

Arid, rocky ground. Above light brown; rump and outer tail feathers rufous; below white faintly streaked brown; white eyebrow above black facial mask.
Burchell’s Sandgrouse
Sandveld. Usually in pairs or flocks at waterholes. More ochre and heavily speckled than other sandgrouse. Female with yellow face and throat, male grey-blue and more rufous overall.
