Endemic

Description

Common endemic resident. Distinguished by white breast and wing-bar. Immature is well spotted like all young robin-chats. In the early morning calls repeatedly ‘swee-swer, swee-swer…’; cf. [Red-capped Robin-Chat]. The call note is a quiet ‘tseep… tseep… tseep…’. Also has a beautiful song that incorporates much mimicry. Occurs singly or in pairs in thickets in dry, mixed bushveld, in riverine forest and at the foot of rocky, bush-covered hills and termitaria. Frequents gardens in some regions.
