Description

Common, localised resident. Has a white nape only, otherwise black with a very heavy, white-tipped bill. In flight appears broad-winged, with a short tail. The call is a falsetto ‘kraak’, although deeper notes are sometimes uttered. Normally occurs in montane regions but wanders far in search of food. A bold species and a great scavenger, often feeding on carrion. Individuals usually forage alone but many may gather at food sources.

Bird Family
