Description
Common endemic resident. A prinia-like bird with variable black breast-band and rufous ear-patches, these being paler in female. Has a loud, penetrating call ‘tee tee tee tee’ plus a quiet ‘chit’. Occurs in low, sparse scrub where pairs or small parties spend much time on the ground, often preferring to run rather than fly. The long, thin tail is characteristically held upright.
