Description

Common, near-endemic resident. Most resembles [Chinspot Batis], but their ranges are almost mutually exclusive. The males are difficult to tell apart; the female has a diagnostic pale buff throat and breast. Further told from (Chinspot Batis) by call: a long, descending sequence of notes ‘peep-peep-peep-peep… choo-choo-choo-choo…’ up to about 100 times. Pairs occur in dry western thornveld, often along watercourses.
