Description

Common endemic resident. Lacks the extensive head and neck markings of [Rüppell’s Korhaan], the black throat-patch and plain crown distinguishing it from all other small korhaans. Sexes are alike. Calls in duet, loud frog-like sounds ‘graag-uurg-og-og, graak-squark-kok-kok…’. Pairs or small parties occur in dry scrubland, semi-desert and arid thornveld, preferring stony ground with sparse vegetation.
