Description

Fairly common to uncommon summer visitor. Male differs from male of [African Golden Oriole] in having black wings and less extensive black mask. Female resembles Immature illustrated. The seldom-heard call is a ringing ‘weela-weeoo’, plus a churring alarm note common to all orioles. Occurs singly in broad-leaved woodland, mixed bushveld, riverine forest and various other well-wooded habitats – including exotic trees. Infrequent over much of the interior, females and immatures outnumbering males at all times.
