Cut throat Finch Male AI

Description

Common resident. Both sexes identified by the fine scaling on the head and underparts and extensive chestnut belly patch. Male has small red band across throat. Female has a generally scaly appearance with a pale bill; smaller and darker than female of [Red-headed Finch]. A thin ‘kee-air’ call is uttered in flight. Occurs in pairs when nesting, otherwise in flocks in dry, broad-leaved woodland, often near villages and cultivations. Takes over old nests of weavers and often in the vicinity of weaver colonies.
