Description
Common, localised resident. Has splayed outer tail-feathers like [Fork-tailed Drongo] but with only a shallow indentation; also has ruby-red eyes. Calls are a loud ‘cherit! cherit!’ or ‘cherit-wit-wit’, plus other strident sounds and imitations of other bird calls. Occurs singly or in pairs in eastern evergreen forests, riparian forest and dense woodland, where it frequents the mid stratum, hawking from a perch. Active, noisy and aggressive.
