Description

Common endemic resident. Identified by grey nape, ear coverts and sides of neck. Female duller than male, and immature streaked below. Song is a series of loud, rolling warbles and trills. Occurs singly or in flocks in a wide variety of habitats, from coastal scrub to montane grassland and protea-covered slopes, plantations and farmlands. Feeds mostly on the ground.
