Description
Common, near-endemic resident. Less white, less clearly barred on the underparts than [Stierling’s Wren-Warbler]; duller about the breast in non-breeding plumage. Easily overlooked, and best located by its mournful call ‘brreeet-brreeet-brreeet-brreeet…’ uttered in bursts of three to five for long periods. Occurs in thornveld and broad-leaved woodland, usually in pairs. Secretive, creeps about in thickets, gradually working its way to the top before flitting to the next thicket. Its tail is held raised when alarmed.
