Description

Uncommon to locally common resident. A small, short-tailed weaver. Male has a distinct brown patch on throat and lores (not diffuse brown wash, cf. [Cape Weaver] ); female has a pale bill. Both sexes have brown eyes. Pairs and small flocks occur in large reed beds over water when breeding, in adjacent riverine forest and thickets when not breeding. Mostly on the east coast and littoral, the Zambezi River and extreme northern Botswana. Seldom far from water or swamps.
