Description

Fairly common endemic resident. Differs from [Karoo Prinia] in white underparts with more rufous flanks and vent plus more rufous upper parts. The call is an explosive ‘chit-churrr’; also calls ‘che-kee-kee’, the song a rapid series of ‘tik-tik-tik-tik…’ notes. Often found in small family groups. More secretive than other prinias and rapid in movements. Occurs in Acacia scrub in dry Karoo river gullies and in reed beds along watercourses and near dams.
