Description

Locally common endemic resident. Told from [Cape Sugarbird] by lack of a dark malar streak, more rufous breast and rufous cap. The call is three or four ascending notes, the last one repeated several times. Occurs on eastern mountain slopes where proteas or aloes are flowering. Somewhat nomadic unless breeding (summer).
