Common resident. Palest yellow of the yellow weavers, upper parts slightly greener when not breeding. Further recognised by stubby bill and red eye. Immature resembles female. Utters a harsh ‘zik’ and a soft swizzling sound. Pairs and flocks occur in the eastern coastal and littoral zones, moving inland along rivers. Breeds in reed beds and trees on rivers and lagoons; when not breeding occurs in riverine bush and adjacent woodland.
