HABITAT
Usually occurs singly in a variety of wooded habitats, including reed beds and suburbia. Parasitises weavers, bishops and sparrows, and often seen while being chased off noisily by weavers.
SPECIES DESCRIPTION
Fairly common, localised resident. An introduced Asian species. The only long-tailed, apple-green parrot in the region. Female has no neck-ring. Has established itself just north of Durban; occurs less frequently further north. Small flocks of (presumably) aviary escapees also occur in central Gauteng.
