HABITAT
A summer-breeding eagle and the most common brown eagle at that time of year. Preferring woodland savanna , rarely in montane forests. Hunts from perch or stooping from above attacking with speed. Nests in tall trees reused over years.

SPECIES DESCRIPTION
Common summer resident (Aug–Mar) intra-African migrant. Occurs in several morph ; (a) probably most common. Dark-headed and white-headed individuals also occur: (d) and (e). Feet, cere and gape a fresh yellow. Gape slightly down-turned unlike lesser spotted Eagle , eye dark. Small crest not always obvious. In flight shows fairly narrow parallel wings and longish square tail held mostly closed. No dark edge to wing secondaries. Sometimes utters a whistling ‘peeeeoo’ in flight and have a very vocalised courtship flight.
