HABITAT
Small flocks frequent montane grassland in the eastern high-rainfall region, breeding and roosting on cliffs. Feeds singly or in groups in dry or burned grassveld and agricultural lands.

SPECIES DESCRIPTION
Uncommon to locally common endemic resident. Distinguished by bright red bald head, red bill and pink legs. Iridescent plumage appears black at a distance. Immature is duller, the head and neck covered in greyish feathers. Sometimes utters a high-pitched ‘keeauw-klaup-klaup’.
