Riverine forests. Below (including underwings) yellow; head grey; rest olive-brown.

Forests and thickets. Dark brown above; white throat contrasts with dusky breast and flanks.

Forest fringes. In the south, a dull-green bird with whitish eyes; Zambezi and beyond brighter green above, yellow-green below.

Dense bush. Greenish above; wing feathers and tail tipped yellow; underbelly, thighs and vent yellow.

Woodland and gardens. Tufted head, eyes, bill and legs black; upperparts dark brown; below dusky white; vent yellow.

Coastal bush. Dark brown head and breast; white eye-rings; yellow vent.

Upland scrub on forest fringes. Told by black cap, red bill and legs; wings and tail dark brown; breast grey; belly white.
